Annunciata School is launching a new exciting program in our Preschool classroom for the 2021-22 school year. Next school year, we are consulting with the Alliance for Catholic Education at the University of Notre Dame and the Office of Catholic Schools to offer an Early Childhood Language Intensive Program. This program will provide Spanish language instruction every
day to connect students with the language and culture to support their learning.
At this age, children’s brains absorb languages most naturally, according to research by the Institute for Learning and Brain Sciences from the University of Washington. Learning in two languages help student’s mental health, academic performance, and career readiness. At Annunciata we want to offer students every advantage.
Our early childhood program will use a cross-linguistic instruction model in the classroom that will strengthen children’s literacy skills in both languages. Another goal of this program is to help build bridges between knowledge, faith, culture, and language. Through celebrating the linguistic and cultural diversity of the Catholic church, children will grow in their faith. We already offer Spanish language classes to students in grades Kindergarten - 8th. By starting language instruction and providing it every day in preschool, we will further support student’s language learning as they go through our school and prepare them for the future and give our students a great foundation for future language learning.
If you have a child that will start in preschool next year, we welcome you to be a part of this new language journey. If you know a family interested in learning more about our wonderful school community and this new exciting Early Childhood Language Intensive Program, please provide us with their contact information via email or call Miss Moscinski. If you are an existing family, you may be eligible for a tuition discount next December if the family you refer enrolls in our school,
